Captain William Allen is a combat engineer in the U.S. Marine Corps currently assigned as Commanding Officer of A Co. 4TH Combat Engineer Battalion, 4TH Marine Division. Deploying in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM 12.1, Will served as the Surveillance Identification Director and S2 officer for the MACS-1 Tactical Air Operations Center in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. In addition, Will is a member of the Truman National Security Project’s Defense Council, as well as, a fulltime graduate student at Columbia University in New York City working towards an M.A. in Islamic Studies. He is currently writing and researching on nexus topography and asymmetric warfare in the Horn of Africa. Originally from New England, Will graduated from Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts with a B.A. in Political Science. The views reflected in his writing are his own.
